Being a beginner in the game industry can be difficult. The game industry is a very competitive field to work in. Not only do you have to constantly practice your skills and learn skills, but you also have to learn new programs and content to stay relevant in this line of work. As a beginning game artist hoping to soon launch herself into the gaming industry, one of the most important things is a competitive portfolio.

As a beginning game artist, I have been constantly working on my drawing, modeling, and animation skills. Each of these things are incredibly important within the gaming industry for a budding artist. Throughout college, I have accomplished creating finished pieces for my portfolio, developing team building skills, and working in a stressful atmosphere with tight deadlines. Some of my greatest strengths include concept art and animating for 2D and 3D engines. I am efficient working in Maya and Photoshop, and have some skill with Unity and Unreal.

Not only is it important to have technical skills, but it is also important to have interpersonal skills. Throughout college I have been able to work on these types of skills. Some of my most efficient interpersonal skills include problem solving, receiving feedback/critiques, handing in work to colleagues within a timely manner, and time management. By having these types of skills under my belt, this will allow me to become more adequate when entering the game industry.
